Cure Cancer @ UCL First came into being in April 2010 and is funding research into the Non Hodgkin's (Lymphona)The charity is the brain child of Sandra Hamilton.

The charity aims to fund research to develop new therapeutics for the treatment of Non Hodgkin’s (Lymphoma). This will be achieved by analysing a class of genes called micro-RNAs in fresh biopsy samples from patients with newly diagnosed lymphoma. These genes are amenable to targeting by a class of drug-like molecules called anti-miRs. By identifying micro-RNAs that are aberrantly active in lymphoma, new anti-miRs will be designed and their activity tested in animal models of lymphoma. Those which show promise will be considered for clinical trials.
Just 50 bikes made it through to the final. 40 of the bikes were chosen by the this year’s celebrity judges, global adventurer and TV celeb Charley Boorman, Red Dwarf star Danny John Jules, MCN Editor Marc Potter and custom guru Jon Quantrell of Hawg Heaven. The remaining 10 bikes were voted through with the most "likes" on the "inside bikes” Facebook page.
The final 50 went onto a public vote which determined the top 12 bikes which are currently on show at the NEC Birmingham, Motorcycle Live Show until the 27th November 2011. The finalists will all be professionally photographed and feature in the 2012 Carole Nash calendar which is distributed to over 100,000 bikers across the UK and Ireland.
Nick Gale Customs were fortunate enough to have been voted through to the top 12 with our Harley Davidson WLC 42. Re built from a wrecked original and customised with a modified frame and one off features including the seat, seat mechanism, fender, gas tank and brass plates.
People voted in their thousands and victory was announced to Nick Gale Customs by Red Dwarf actor Danny John –Jules who presented Nick with £1,000 in cash, a Protect a Bike shed and an Envy motorcycle lift, a prize package worth £2,300.
Danny John-Jules : “I love this bike. It’s the sort that can be sat in the window of an art gallery or sat on rumbling around the roads of the Lake District. Even though every part has been lovingly restored, it doesn’t look overdone. It still has that nostalgic-rustic-retro look. Rock on!”
A delighted Nick Gale commented: “I can’t believe it. I’ve won a lot of shows with my business but this is more my own bike and I’m very, very pleased to have won. Some really, really nice bikes made it through to the finals, I’d like to own a few myself!”
Taking 2nd place was 100% Biker’s Nik Samson with his stunning, modified Suzuki bandit 600.3rd place was awarded to Rocket Bob’s, Pete Pearson with his beautiful Harley Davidson Rocker.
Carole Nash’s head of marketing, Rebecca Donohue said: “The standard of entries in this, the last Britain’s Got Biking Talent, has been absolutely exceptional. By all accounts it was quite a task for the celebrity judges to whittle down the shortlist for the public vote and I don’t doubt there has been many a friendly pub argument among bikers over which bike was the very best. Having said that, looking at Nick’s Harley re-creation it’s clear he is a deserving winner. That bike is nothing short of magnificent."

1st NGcc Biker Bash

The Ngcc Biker Bash took place this year to celebrate Nick Gale Customs being open 6 years and still going strong, resisting the recession and forging ahead with great optimism lead by Nick Gale himself, but even Nick needs a rest, cause being strong through the tough times can take it's toll and there's nothing like a good party to keep you going . ..
I told everyone that I'd ordered the sun, wayyy back in November . . . So Friday, day of set up, I got paid back with sun burn, lol! Saturday started a bit dodgy with a periodical drip I tried very hard to ignore, but then a light shower decended . . . Don't worry, I said, the sun's gonna burst through those clouds . . .and so it did, Phewwww!! ( Worried, me, Nooooooooooo!!)
We didn't have a clue what to expect with our first small show, all that could be done, was, and it was just a case of wait and see, but hey, we all have to take a risk sometime!! The stall holders that came to support us were a great bunch of people, Ave Satanas, Jo Bill Spirit, Colne Creek, Clean bike clinic, Image Design, Fat Skeleton, Custom Rides and Hot Rods, Inkslingers tattoo, Nefarious Pinstriping, Wrap My Bike, The Magazine Man, Hells Angels London, Jailhouse Fashions, The Vince Ray Experience, Briliant Polish,Taylor Made, City Of Leather and the magnificent Shooting range put on by Badgertac, who kicked back and enjoyed the atmosphere that had been created with massive thanks to Red & Steve, TOP blokes from Biker Fm and some seriously top tunes, kickstarted with ACDC's Back in Black.

Bikers rolled in and Sturdy's Castle started to fill up . . . the show had begun, (actually a few early arrivals pulled in Friday afternoon & eve keen to get started!!)
We had some beautiful trophies that had been designed and made by the Great Frog Of London, (1000 thanks to Reino)

Best In Show: with his Harley Night Rod, to Choulsey
Best Chop: Super Charged S & S chop by Custom ride & Hot Rods, Julian & Hank
Best Paint: with his Speed Triple Carlsberg Special, to R Satturley
Best Old Skool: with his DNA Bobber, to Mik Ashheld
Best Modified Stock: with his Harley Night Rod, to Choulsey
Best Lowrider: with his Bronze Pro Street, to D Sault

There were some great bikes in the show, but too many that didn't enter the show . . . that should of!
Too many people who for some reason didn't think their bikes were good enough to enter, what tosh!!
I spent at least 5 mins convincing Andy Shroud, organiser of the Brackley motorcycle festival, (Aug 21st) of exactly that, and believe me, he's got a lovely bike!! Another I would have liked to have seen entered was a modified . . . . SCOOTER!! Now I HATE scooters with a capital H, but this was just Ace, a Rat Scooter, lmao!! Has to be seen to be believed!!!

We were very fortunate to have some great raffle prizes donated due to the good nature of the stall holders which were won during the course of the afternoon . . . One group of bikers bought a good few tickets and won a good few prizes to the disbelief of everyone!! Nope no fix, were not that organised, lol!!

We had some gorgeous kickboxin girls kickin ass with their instructor Dave Gentry, a good friend of mine who came along to show their support and even sold raffle tickets, thank you muchly!

The end of the show was marked with some brilliant bands and our superb sound guy, Tony Jezzard.( Massive thanks ) We were very lucky to have Aaron, a young 13 year old blues singer, who just blew everyone away with a band his dad manage to put together just that afternoon (as his normal band were strewn pretty much all over the country) after a last minute per chance booking, !! Wow, that young boy is gonna b a star!!!

Next on were Slagerij who really had the audience bopping along to what I would call ska punk and they would probably call something else, original music written & performed by some very energetic young lads!
With a wicked rendition of Beastie boys, Fight for your right to partyyyyyyy!! Already on their second album and touring the country.

Following them were the rockabilly band, Ted Army, who looked fab in their gear and did a great set of hits. Thanks to them for lending their drum kit to Slagerij and to Mick the singer who gave me some handy tips on the music front! Unfortunatley the guys are so much in demand they had to shoot off straight away to another gig!!! Go Ted Army!!

Emcoil who came on 4th were nice enough to lend the bands their bass & lead cabs, and after a last minute nightmare with a missing drum kit which was kindly lent to them by our headlining band, they played a great set of heavy metal. Look out for these guys, I'm sure it's a name you'll hear a lot more in the future, particularily a song called "loser" which I renamed, "Why", listen to it on Total Rock radio, and you'll know why!

Headlining and finishing the day of events was Crude Measure, super fine band doing Classic Rock Covers, that I erm, had a little headbang to, ( They don't call me Jen Rock for nothing !!) Massive thanks to the drummer for saving the day :) . . . The guys do a fabulous set of classics sung with some real zest or is that Oomph?!, just the right voice for Rock, Loved it!!
In other words, the bands ROCKED!!

Massive thanks to Sturdy's Castle for letting us hold our event there and for putting up with us all. A fabulous venue for a show like ours, Vanessa the land lady is just brilliant ,along with her friendly and helpful staff. I'm not sure they knew exactly what to expect and how to prepare without knowing the numbers or ever hosting a show like this before, but they got there in the end!!

Even greater thanks to my very good friends Rick & Hilary who went all out to do whatever they could to help.Real diamonds.

Thanks to Deputy Dog Dave for all his help.( Hope your back's better!)

Big thanks to Shaz and Mandy for giving up their time and manning the t shirts, Big Kiss!!

Thanks to John & Anne who did a great job manning the gate, with help from Julia, Dave and Neil and another lovely man Bro Barnsley. Hugo & Adey for giving up your time x
Thank you to everyone that made it a great day just by turning up!!

Custom bike n hotrod show

10 days to go until the NGcc Biker Bash!! The 2009 Biker Build Off entry "Predator" has most definitely had the "Gaga" treatment, but then again how could we expect anything else!!

We pride ourselves on building one of a kind custom bikes and lets face it, if nothing else, Lady Gaga is most definitely one of a kind!
Just a two day event this year, with a lot less people and trader stands than last year and the Panarama room unusually closed. The 2010 show was a hub of activity in comparison, but nonetheless 2011 held it's own . . . Just!

There was a good turn out of bikes on display that rightfully made many owners proud, and when all is said & done, was the crux of the show.

The NGcc stand housed the boys from the Archway Project who built their custom chop,Purple Haze live at the show over the two days. The boys aged 14 -16, did a brilliant job under watchful eyes. Nerves of steel?!

The Black Widow bike, adorned with swarovski crystals was finished in time to for the Ally Pally and received alot of interest from the crowd.

Happy New Year!!

NGcc Would Like To Wish All It's Customers
We have been very careful not to build a bike that is patronising to it's potential customer and feel we have been very inovative with our unique approach to this bike and others like it. We can't give too much away at this point, but when the bike is unveiled at the Ally Pally Custom Show in February 2011, we are sure it will start a new and exciting trend that will run and run! The only thing we can tell you at this stage is it isn't gonna be Baby Pink or Baby Blue, it's going into black with a very very unique twist. Pictures to follow once it's been completed

ARCHWAY PROJECT WELL UNDER WAY!

The Archway Project bike named 'Purple Haze' is almost ready to send to paint. The 70's style chop has turned into a very cool bit of kit indeed. From the large cross sunk into the gas tank, to the huge cissy bar and one off exhaust this bike will turn heads when final build takes place at the Ally Pally Custom Show in February 2011. We may have helped with the fabrication side but this is not a small achievement from 5 lads who have never built a bike before.

ARCHWAY PROJECT

Nick Gale Custom Cycles of Wembley had been discussing the possibilities of starting a local youth workshop for underprivileged children who could work together on a project custom bike for charity. Soon after this we were approached by a registered charity called The Archway Project, who were looking for exactly what we had in mind.
The Archway Project works together with young people who are at risk of social exclusion, in care proceedings, or who suffer abuse or neglect at home. Archway provide support and guidance, whilst diverting the youngsters away from crime, reducing reoffending and providing members with qualifications and the skills necessary to help them secure meaningful employment. Providing an alternative learning experience for youngsters who have educational needs and those excluded from full time education.

After some initial talks and a lot of excitement, Archway went in search of funding to pay for the parts for the custom build. The Archway Project were happy to just get a bike build going and find a way to cover their initial costs. NGcc approached The Variety Club children’s charity on their behalf, who jumped at the chance to back the project, offering to auction the finished bike at one of their high profile dinners. This was a fantastic result for NGcc ensuring that both the Archway Project and the Variety Club both benefitted. Archway would recoup their fund money for a future bike project as they wanted and The Variety Club would receive the remaining proceeds.

Before the first workshop the boys came along with their youth workers to meet Nick and the crew and discuss the options for their first custom bike project. Nick asked the boys about their level of commitment, explained the pros and cons of custom bike building, and highlighted what they could expect to gain from this experience.

It was collectively decided that Archway’s first custom bike build would be a Chopper, which the boys aged 14 – 15 decided to call “Purple Haze”. A suggestion from one of the boy’s dads.

Each Monday the boys travel to the NGcc workshop from Thamesmead and spend a few hours with Nick and one of his skilled team. The final reveal will be at the London International Custom Show at Alexandra Palace where the boys will build the bike in front of a live audience.
The Archway Boys start each session by re capping the previous week's session with Nick Gale. They each receive a worksheet that gives an outline of what they did and a questionnaire that Nick goes through with them, to make sure they are learning as they go along and fully understand the process they have just accomplished.
The session continues with hands on involvement and discussions on each step that is carried out and how to achieve each stage.
The entire project is supervised at all times and the dangerous handling of equipment and particularly skilled fabrication is only carried out by NGcc experienced staff, who explain in detail how it has been done.
All labour, time and fabrication is given freely by Nick Gale and the dedicated NGcc staff.
